I had long been a coffee drinker (and a proper Melbourne snob about it too), but I completely lost the taste for it when I became pregnant in 2017. When my liver function began to decline as my pregnancy progressed, I was given a cholestasis diagnosis. After being told by doctors there was nothing I could do to support my liver or remedy this condition myelf, I sought the assistance of a Naturopath who had developed a cholestasis protocol over 20 years!
There were a few methods I used to support my liver and broader health at this time, but dandelion root was the central tool that supported my body and psyche at a time of heightened stress and fear. Drinking her a few times a day, I would pray into my cup for the resilience of my liver and my baby (both of which did more than fine, much to the bewilderment of said doctors).
Dandelion root and has not left my cupboard since, and as our relationship grew and my health and taste for the flavour of coffee returned in postpartum, I slowly introduced other herbs to my brew until I’d made a most delicious drinkable powerhouse in a cup. It’s a story that clearly has a big place in my heart. I don’t know what I would have done without dandelion root by my side at that pivotal turning point in my life. The power of herbs had well and truly found my attention and set me on the plant path I now find myself on.

Dried Dandelion root (roasted and un-roasted), Chicory root, Burdock root, Astragalus root, Reishi mushroom, Ashwagandha root, Australian Carob, Cinnamon bark and Cardamom pods.
All organic

Adjust to suit desired strength.
Suggested use: 1 tbs per cup of water and either:
Steep as a tea for 20 minutes
Decoct/simmer gently for 5 minutes in a pot (my preferred method, to which I add milk and sometimes maple), or
Use as you would ground coffee in your stovetop percolator or french press.
I’ve also tried this blend in combination with coffee and it pairs beautifully.
